Overlooking the shores of Lake Como, in the village of Lezzeno, this distinguished 350 sqm historic villa has undergone a comprehensive conservative restoration, carefully balancing contemporary living requirements with the preservation of its original architectural identity.

The project was guided by a clear philosophy: to preserve rather than replace. Every design decision was made with respect for the building's history, ensuring that its architectural character remained intact while restoring the villa to its former elegance.

The restoration focused on safeguarding the property's most valuable original features. The decorative plasterwork was meticulously restored, preserving the craftsmanship and refined details that define the interiors. Likewise, the original terrazzo flooring was retained and enhanced wherever possible, maintaining the authentic materiality and atmosphere of the historic residence.

Where new flooring was required, it was designed to seamlessly integrate with the existing fabric of the building. Patterns, colours, textures, and proportions faithfully reinterpret the original surfaces, ensuring visual continuity and reinforcing the villa's authentic character rather than introducing contrasting contemporary elements.

The same conservative approach was applied to the exterior. The roof was entirely rebuilt while preserving its original geometry, proportions, and traditional materials, and the façades were carefully restored and repainted using their historic colour palette, returning the building to its authentic appearance.

Although the villa has been completely renovated and discreetly updated to meet modern standards of comfort, every intervention was conceived to respect the spirit of the original architecture. Interior spaces were subtly reorganised to improve functionality without compromising the building's historic integrity or spatial identity.

The result is a restoration that celebrates the value of preservation. Rather than transforming the villa, the project reveals and enhances its existing qualities, allowing its history, craftsmanship, and timeless elegance to continue defining the experience of the space. It is an intervention where authenticity remains the project's greatest architectural asset.
